The Devon Law Centre provides legal advice and representation in the areas of community care, education, housing and immigration.

The Law Centre now has 8 employees; a full-time immigration adviser, a part-time housing solicitor, two part-time education and community care lawyers, a full-time benefits adviser for people of pension age, a part time-asylum support worker, one full-time and one part-time administrative workers. In addition to the paid staff there are volunteers and student placements.

We are funded by the Legal Services Commission to give specialist advice in Community care, Education, Housing and Immigration Law

Since the beginning of 2005 the Department for Work and Pensions has funded us to provide a specialist benefits service to people of pension age. This service is provided primarily in Plymouth and in North Devon and we will  be assessing the difference in take up between those living in a city with those in rural areas.

Since March 2005, the Lloyds TSB foundation has funded a part-time post to provide support in relation to the Asylum advice provided at the Law Centre.

In 2005 the Law Centre has been awarded Lottery funding to extend it's community care advice service to older people in rural Devon.
